QUICK CREDIT CARD HELP PLEease!!!?

Posted on Oct 29, 2009 under credit card |

Suppose I initially charge an item on one CC and then before recieving it, changed info so it will be charged on a different CC.

Suppose now I got my item and found out they charged the original CC (i.e. the wrong CC).

Will a retailer usually reverse the charge and put it on a different CC?

  1. If you changed the billing information prior to receiving the product, and the new billing credit card info is valid they should as a measure of good faith reverse the charge and bill the new card. The timing of the cc change is key here and are you sure they didn’t bill both? Two ways to approach, because you did make the change prior to recipt "clearly" it’s their fault and you can make your stance that way. Because you have the product at this point, you actually have more leverage than if you didn’t. Or, if that’s not your style, I find that throwing yourself under the bus is the best defense (not literally) but playing the "I don’t know how(why, what etc) I could do something that stupid and I need you to help me out" Once you invoke the need to help you, most anyone responds to that. Bottom line is, you’re trying to pay for the item, you’re not trying to scam or get out of paying and if they want your return business, it’s in their best interest to assist you

  2. The retailer has the ability to do that….but it’s a hassle for them. All you can do is call and see if they will work with you on it.
